The IC includes an on-chip Phase-Locked Loop (PLL) that locks to an input clock signal presented on the REF pin. The user can choose any one of the outputs as feedback input by connecting it to the FBK pin. The CY2308 has two banks, each with four outputs. The select inputs control the activation of the output banks. If not all output clocks are required, Bank B can be three-stated (disabled). During chip and system testing, the input clock can be directly applied to the output for testing purposes. The input-to-output skew (delay variation) is less than 250 ps, and the output-to-output skew is less than 200 ps, ensuring synchronized clock distribution. The CY2308 PLL enters a power-down state when there are no rising edges on the REF input. In this mode, all outputs are three-stated, and the PLL is turned off, resulting in low current draw (less than 25 μA). The PLL can also shut down under additional conditions mentioned in the documentation. Multiple CY2308 devices can be used together to distribute the same input clock within a system, with a skew (delay variation) between the outputs of two devices less than 700 ps. The CY2308 series is available in different configurations: CY2308-1: Base part where the output frequencies equal the reference frequency if there is no counter in the feedback path. CY2308-1H is the high-drive version with faster rise and fall times. CY2308-2: Enables obtaining 2x and 1x frequencies on each output bank, depending on the user's selection of the output driving the feedback pin. CY2308-3: Enables obtaining 4x and 2x frequencies on the outputs. CY2308-4: Enables obtaining 2x clocks on all outputs, offering high versatility.
