Its primary function is to detect out-of-tolerance conditions in the power supply voltage and generate a power-fail signal internally. When the DS1816 detects an out-of-tolerance condition, it forces the reset signal to the active state. This reset signal is typically used to initiate a system reset or to signal to the microcontroller or processor that the power supply voltage is unstable. It helps ensure proper system operation and prevent potential data corruption or errors during power supply voltage fluctuations. Once the power supply voltage (VCC) returns to an in-tolerance condition, the DS1816 keeps the reset signal in the active state for approximately 150ms. This delay allows the power supply and the processor to stabilize before releasing the reset signal. Stabilization time ensures that the system reaches a reliable operational state before resuming normal operation.
